A Sip of Coffee
The next four words might be a shock to you, they might surprise you and they might leave you wondering why:
I don't drink coffee.
It is not that I totally dislike coffee. I am just not used to it. I have never actually thought of drinking it even in the face of sleepless nights.
In the same way, I am not fond of soft drinks. The latter may be because of its acidity and low nutritional value.
But anyway, that may just be me; I am really more of a cocoa-type of person or tea whichever is available. My taste buds are used to those kinds of beverages, just not coffee. Most people like coffee in the morning, sometimes even at lunch or dinner, that, I think, might be weird.
Some people even feel disappointed when they do not get their cup of coffee at breakfast or when the coffee is already cold, or when what's left is just the cup.
Coffee has this component called caffeine which gives energy to a person, the reason why people feel more awake when they drink coffee. That's why coffee is the best friend of a student or perhaps an employee, because it is really good for all-nighters, especially when heaps of homework or paperwork are stacked against you. It can also help burn calories, good for those who want to trim their extra weight.
Although, too much caffeine in one's system may be harmful as well. Since it stimulates all the body organs, it can raise blood pressure. It may also make you nervous all the time, or panicky and anxiety might also kick in. You might feel nausea and restlessness as well. On the other hand, you would not have to worry about dehydration.
Coffee may also be compared to love. They are best when hot. Add a little cream to give it sweetness and, presto, you have a relationship. But, not all relationships can keep the fire going. Each day, the coffee gets colder and colder until the cups just sit there on the breakfast table, never to be touched again. And it comes to a point when the heat has died out, never to be rekindled.
Not to worry though, there is always something waiting for you in the horizon. Keep searching and you will soon find what you are looking for.
"A cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent."
Being a fellow non-coffee drinker....I can totally associate with this post :)
