Jesus Cares for Us

As we near the celebration of Holy Week, let me draw you upon this thought: the Son of God who justly sits at the right hand of God the Father in heaven came down into a sinful world and showed us His love by laying Himself down at the cross so that our sins may be washed through His blood.

He loves and cares for us and the Bible takes note of this when the apostle Peter writes in 1 Peter 5:7:

"Cast all your anxiety upon the Lord because He cares for you."

We could not start to comprehend by reason the fact that God sent His only begotten Son to save the world by taking upon Himself the judgment well-deserved by the world so that the way may be opened for us toward reconciliation with the Father.

Jesus did all that and more when He came to the world and when He left, He made a promise that where He is going, we cannot follow now but we will follow later (John 13:36).

Throughout the Bible, God's faithfulness and loving kindness has been exhibited in the lives of many men and women of faith. His words remain always in the hearts of these people because they trust the Lord and know that He speaks of the truth and works in all things for our good.

In the book of John, we see exactly who Jesus is and who He can be for us through the different encounters He had with different people.

It showed what Jesus came here to do and what He wants to do for us even today. Jesus manifested through His work and ministry how much He truly loves us and to what extent He will endure hardships for us.

God has also given us His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us and Jesus, when He was preparing to go back to heaven, promised His disciples that He will not leave them on their own.

Instead He will be sending someone, referring to the Holy Spirit, who would remind them of everything Jesus had said and who would be the Comforter.

The Holy Spirit is Jesus' provision for us today and through the power of His Spirit, we can do exactly what Jesus did and even greater things as Jesus explains in John 14:12-14.

We have a friend in Jesus (John 15:13-15). And in the passage of Scripture that I cited, Jesus tells us that there is no greater love than a man would lay down his life for a friend. Jesus, in His love, sacrificed Himself, leaving His throne in heaven so that man, who rejected Him and despised Him, would be saved and freed from the chains of sin.

No other words can express what Jesus had gone through for us. He received thirty-nine lashes and was beaten and broken for us. He wore a crown of thorns for us.

He was pierced through the hands and stabbed on the side for us. He bore the shame and humiliation of men for us. He was mocked and spat on and stripped off all dignity for us.

All of this He suffered and endured for us. He did even more than this as with the numerous miracles that He did in His stay on earth.

But to think that those same people whom He fed and showed miracles to, who waved palm branches singing, "Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest!" were the same people who shouted, "Crucify Him!".

But now, He sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for us, caring for us, and loving us every single day. He knows each one of us personally and thinks about us more than we think of Him admittedly.

He is the One whom we can find peace with. He brings living water to spring from the hearts of those who believe Him so that they may never thirst nor hunger again. He brings rest to our weary and tethered soul.

This is Jesus, the Son of the living God: our Savior, Lord, Friend, Teacher, Healer, Restorer, Comforter, Refuge, Strength, and Master. He loves us.

He gives joy and peace in our hearts every single day. He hears us when we call and comes to our rescue. He is our ever-present help in time of need. He is our source of love and the lover of our soul. He is love.

God Bless!
