Choosing to be Victorious over Your Circumstances

Have you been going through some difficult circumstances lately? Maybe you have bills to pay but have no money for them. Maybe you just broke up with someone and it hurts so much that you feel lost and without hope. Maybe you have no one to lean on.

Maybe you have troubles within the family and it affects you deeply to see your parents quarreling or your children rebelling. Maybe you failed quite a number of times in life. Whatever circumstances you are facing right now, I want to tell you that you can choose to be victorious over them.

Several months ago, I was reading a book titled Never Be A Victim Again by Don Clowers and he speaks of how we cannot control what happens in our lives and there will always be bad moments or failures that we have to go through however we do have control over how we respond to these situations.

The world we live in is a treacherous world and to be honest, the things that happen to us are often unfair. There are times that bad things happen to people no matter how good they try to be while good things happen to bad people no matter how unjustified it seems.

And often in these situations, we tend to question God and even blame Him for the bad things that happen in our lives.

But we must remind ourselves what the Bible tells us. God is always in control even when the world turns over and our lives have gone chaotic.

We can always approach God and ask Him to help us during these times and even in these times, we can praise and worship because we know He is a good God and He can carry us through the storm and rise up above the challenges of life.

We must choose to respond with humility and faith in God through these circumstances. Remember when Job was attacked by Satan to the point where he had lost everything in his life and even his health was failing.

Job chose to praise and worship God because as he said,

"Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."

Job chose to be faithful to God and to not accuse Him of any wrongdoing or blame Him or curse His Name instead he praised God all the more because everything he had came from God and Job knew that having God in his life was enough.

Job did not succumb to bitterness and he did not bear any ill will against God because in the good times, God was faithful to Job and he knew that God will also be faithful in the bad.

In the end, the Lord God blessed Job in abundance and had double than what he had in the beginning. God rewarded Job's faithfulness and he lived a full life.

The apostle Paul also went through struggles in his life and one of them was having a thorn in his flesh that tormented him. He pleaded with God to take it away from him but this is what the Lord replied to him in 2 Corinthians 12:9,

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."

In the bad times, God exhibits His power upon our lives all the more and He helps us to rise up despite the crises we go through in life. So we choose to trust in the Lord, to bring our problems to Him, and to stand firm in our faith so that we would be victorious over our circumstances.

Whenever we are faced with great challenges and we get so frustrated, instead of lashing out on God and losing our temper, let us choose to do otherwise and praise Him instead. When somebody slaps us on the cheek, turn the other cheek also. When someone persecutes us, we show kindness to them.

Let us choose to humble ourselves before God and recognize His power and authority over our lives. In this way, we can be victorious over Satan and over the circumstances we face because we choose to give glory to God instead of wallowing in self-pity and indignation. We can choose to be victorious!

God Bless!
