Happy 2012!!!

Image
Happy New Year! All around the world, people have welcomed and have still been waiting for the New Year. 2012--the most awaited year, perhaps, of the century. This year is the one that we have all been waiting for, to prove whether the Mayan calendar is telling the truth or not--is the world going to end in 2012? Many are speculating, many are preparing for what's to come, many are having the time of their lives. But, for now, let us reminisce on the things that happened this year. Why is 2011 memorable? Well, besides being the first of the second decade of the 21st century, 2011 has its own rights for it to be remembered. Here is a recollection of the most notable events that happened this year, events that shocked us and have left an unforgettable mark upon each one. So there's the Christchurch Earthquake, the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster, the Royal Wedding, and many more. 2011, a year that no one would ever forget. It would possibly be the start of tremendous

A Purpose-Driven Life

Image
Purpose . This is what gives direction to our life. It explains the reason why we exist in this world, at such a timely manner, perfectly orchestrated, strategically positioned to be at this street, in this hour. Yet, at the same time one might find himself, one might think why he was set in this world, at this time, at this place. Truly, this has puzzled me. I have been quite perplexed at the timing of the events that have happened in my life. I have been searching and asking but the one word that answered all my questions was purpose. Now, having established that one has a purpose in life, the next question is, "What is my purpose?". Looking back when I was not more than five years, I wanted to be many things as a lot of people in their tender years might have. I remember that there were times when the career, the path that I wanted to take took a lot of unexpected turns. At first, I wanted to be a doctor. It seemed the most reasonable and popular answer for me at

100 Truths About Me

Image
So, my mind has been blank these last few days on what I am going to be posting. Honestly, I thought of something but I fell asleep and I have forgotten what that is. Anyway, I have also been meaning to post one of these "Hundred Truths" which Facebook has surveyed. Also, I just wanted to do something candid and spontaneous so, I decided to do this. Though I am going to be doing this the first time, so I do not know what the outcome would be. Anyways, I'll just answer this then. 1. Last beverage ~ A glass of cold water. And it tasted good. :) 2. Last phone call ~ My friend Justin called me this morning. 3. Last kiss ~ Never been.. or have I? XD 4. Last song you listened to ~ Hey, Soul Sister by Train.. I have LSS with this song. 5. Last time you cried ~ Two weeks ago. During our Christmas party in school. I was crying on the inside. HAVE YOU EVER: 6. Dated someone twice ~ Unfortunately, I haven't dated someone yet. 7. Been cheated on? ~ In what reg

Taking a Break

Image
It has been quite a vacation. Not really the one that I expected to have. It does not have that authentic feel of merriment unlike past years of Christmas. I remember the whole extended family would sit around the table and eat the food that we have been blessed to have that time. Probably, this is because people in our house have been so busy lately that they had no time to just feel the moment. Everyone is worried about the preparations, the food; whether there will be a party or not; whether there will be guests arriving although I thought that nobody expected any visitors coming. This absolutely does not live up to my expectations of a wonderful season of joy and giving. I concluded this partially due to my own experience. Going back to memory lane--it was about three years ago when my uncle and aunt from abroad had flown to the Philippines and come to our home unexpectedly. You see, I felt the spontaneity of that and everything just fell into place. We had a lively f

Another Boring Day

Image
There really are times when you feel that time moves slower than it usually does, the waning hours and minutes seem to make your body more restless, and whatever you do, you could not seem to get yourself up and moving. Well, I just had one of those days today. Besides having to do a lot of work, writing notes, making projects, and doing all this took a toll on me. My mind seems a little flustered and quite confused on which is which. And quite frankly, I could not really think straight to be able to write a really nice post. So, I just decided to write whatever I can. So, to clear my head, I will just be listening to some tunes. And while I do that, I'm going to tell you how you can have boring days less frequently. First of all, I suggest that you do something worthwhile. I mean, not just something that you think is fun to do. Always be productive. Try some new hobby, or maybe try going out, breathe the fresh air, smell the flowers; maybe you could try painting a bea

Merry Christmas

Image
Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noel, Maligayang Pasko, Merry Christmas! Glad tidings and great joy to all! Truly, there is a good enough reason for us to rejoice and be merry this season. Bonuses are in the corner, sales in malls, new gadgets are in the market. However, these do not really give us half the reason why we should celebrate this season. It all started 2011 years ago when a baby child was born in a manger, in the town of Bethlehem. At that time, only a few people knew that He is the Messiah and the one who will bring salvation to the world. But no one knew how it was going to be done. The news spread and there was rejoicing about. Songs of praise filled the heavens. Then, many years later, as was prophesied and carefully orchestrated, Jesus Christ went to the cross and died. Three days later, he was resurrected from the grave. It was through Him that all of our sins were washed away and now, we have a way to get to heaven. We should be thinking less about ourselves, an

Reality

Image
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep ~ Robert Frost, Stopping by Woods  on a Snowy Evening  Stopping by woods is probably one of the best poems I have ever read. Not only does it have perfect form and it creates a very vivid image in one's mind, but it also contains a deeper meaning of what life is and its complexity. It gives a sense of fantasy yet it will abruptly pull you back to reality. It gives a depiction of our desire to break away from society's grip, to break loose of the bars of responsibility, but we are also reminded that we must continue on with life, no matter how difficult it is. As I read the poem, it gave me an experience that I can only have in my mind. It brought me to this winter paradise, the snow slowly falling from the sky, collecting itself on the ground, and I mire at it. There were no worries, no problems to think about, no duties to attend

Living with Enthusiasm

Image
"Awaken, sleeping soul from the abyss of that weary body and shake off that morose disposition.  Life is far too short to waste. Stop sulking in hatred and bitterness, curling up in a dark, lonely corner as if trying to reminisce the days of youthful merriment.  From your face, I find the sullen thoughts of revenge but you should not resort to it nor should you stoop down to such a level but fortunately, try as you might, you are aloof to the ravenous tactics of such foolish acts.  Let your senses break free from the bondage of cruelty; let your eyes see the beauty of life and your ears hear the melodious voices carried by the wind.  Feel the comfort and warmth of the sun, the coolness of the night and frolic in the meadows of your youth. Release yourself from the prison that forbids you to reach for the heavens, to climb the mountaintops, to delve the depths of the seas, to enjoy the excitement and thrill that life has to offer.  The sadness, the anger, and the pain t

Have a Little Faith

Image
"As your faith is strengthened you will find that there is no longer the need to have a sense of control, that things will flow as they will, and that you will flow with them, to your great delight and benefit." ~Edward Teney  About a year ago, I read the book "Have a Little Faith" by Mitch Albom. It is a good book and I believe that anyone who will read it will also be inspired. The story, the people, they simply moved me; they brought me to a deeper understanding of my own faith. It really is a great book and if you have the time to go to the bookstore and buy it, I would recommend you to buy it. In the past year, I encountered a lot of problems and perhaps I will have greater problems this year but it is these times of trouble that we have to strengthen our faith and never lose hope for God never leaves us nor forsakes us. He gives us refuge, He gives us comfort in our time of need. Faith is the only thing we have left when everything else is gone. E

Let Go

Image
There it goes, up in the sky There it goes, beyond the clouds For no reason why I can't cry hard enough No, I can't cry hard enough For you to hear me now... ~ Bellefire, Can't Cry Hard Enough "Letting go doesn’t mean giving up, but rather accepting that there are things that cannot be."  ~ Anon Let go--says the guy to his friend after his heart got broken; says the widow to her neighbor whose husband died; and the mother as she comforts her child. Let go--the proverbial phrase of leaving something behind and moving forward to see what lies ahead in our life. Many have a difficult time letting go of their past, of their relationships, of their loved ones; they keep anything that would remind them of moments in the past. Reflecting on the good times that they have had. It's good to keep memories of what was but there are times when you just have to let them go especially if it causes you pain and misery. People spend years battling,

I Forgive You

Image
"Forgiveness is the answer to the child's dream of a miracle by which what is broken is made whole again, what is soiled is made clean again." ~Dag Hammarskjold One of the greatest miracles that all of us have experienced is the miracle of forgiveness. I have seen many people get hurt by those closest to them yet they still forgive them for the mistakes they have done. No matter how painful, no matter how humiliating, we still find it in ourselves to forgive those who have wronged us. A saying goes that to err is human but to forgive is divine. True enough, it is very difficult for someone to forgive. But in time, I believe that they will be able to forgive because it is natural to us. Our heart is not capable of holding a grudge on someone for such a long period of time. Sooner or later, we will set aside our differences and forgive each other. Truly, forgiveness has the power to mend broken relationships and to heal broken hearts. It is something for your

Living with Sorrow

Image
"I watched him being torn out by grief. Behind that unmoving facade, lies a deep sorrow.  The emptiness he feels caused by the leaving of his heart's heart is now filled by anguish and regret. He searches for a place, a small dwelling for the moment to let out his feelings that he has kept hidden in the trench of his heart, in the seat of his soul.  But where he will go, I do not know.  I tried to follow him but he is nowhere to be seen. From east to west, I have looked yet still I see no sign of him. Rain starts pouring and alas, I find him, sitting on a bench with his cold, wrinkled hands covering his pale, hollow face.  His once rosy cheeks are now blue. And he sits there, sobbing; weeping his heart out. I do not know what to say. I can only say so much to comfort him. I know what he feels. I felt the same way when I got hurt many times before. But that is in the past. I have gotten over of the feeling of sorrow and the state of depression. You can only hold on to s
