The Malacañang of the North

A couple of hours from the Bangui windmills, we reached the Malacañang of the North, the estate of the late former President Marcos during his regime where he and his family lived for quite some time.

Now, it is another cultural heritage and historical site which is a must-see attraction for those who are interested to know more about the Marcos family and their lifestyle a long time ago.

For only 30 pesos per individual, you can get a sneak peek of the whole place and see the different historical artifacts and furnishings that comprise the once political center where the former president conducted his diplomatic affairs.

Now I consider it a heritage site and tourist spot; you will also pick up certain intellectual tidbits and trivia from their guide.

It is definitely a joy to tour around this exquisite mansion and it would feel like you are walking in the presidential suite with the breeze coming from the overlooking Lake Paoay.

Furthermore, when you go inside, you would really feel the grandeur and elegance of the place and with Lake Paoay in view, the whole ambiance instills a great sense of tranquility and relaxation for the mind, soul, body, and spirit.

This is perhaps Lady Imelda's intention as she always tried to exhort those around her to feel the beauty of nature and creation embodied in culture and lifestyle.

Some of the highlights of the tour around the whole place were the master bedroom, the grand living room and dining room, the diplomacy room which is shown above, another presidential room, the entrance hall with very friendly guides who welcome and invite you to see the whole place.

There are separate rooms that show the different projects and achievements that the Marcos regime had done.

Each room is a different section of what aspects of the country and development that the Marcos regime had focused its attention to and had made some difference and impact in for the Philippines.

The rooms are quite large and built in with some of the finest furniture in numbers enough to accommodate two or three families. The breeze coming in from Lake Paoay also gives it a wonderful environment.

I was so thrilled in seeing the Malacañang of the North because it helped me to understand more of what the lives of the Marcos family was during their reign in the Philippines.

I was able to see the different accolades and improvements that they did for the country despite the corruption that happened, there will still some major achievements during that time and a general boost of the economy in the early stages of their reign.
