The Top 5 Memorable Christmases of My Life (So Far)
One day left to cross out on your calendar and Christmas will come knocking at your door once more to bring good tidings and spread the love and joy in your life.
Christmas has always been a special time of the year for me and my family because these are a few of the moments when everything will become relatively peaceful in the house.
It's like every time Christmas comes, we try to hit the pause button just for a while and forget about all the problems that we have in our pockets.
Now, every Christmas, our family tries to experience something new and to have some kind of adventure. Reminiscing about the past Christmases I have had, there were some that I really cherish and I want to share them here.
#1: Christmas 2007 - Enchanted Kingdom
The Christmas of 2007 is the most memorable to me because this was the first time in many years that my uncle and aunt came home from abroad to spend Christmas with us.
I felt so excited and grateful that they came because their mere presence for Christmas meant a lot to all of us especially my grandmother who had been waiting a long time to see them again.
I remember that one evening six years ago, I had somewhat of a premonition, or maybe it was just a thought, about my uncle and aunt. Whatever it was, I was thinking about them that night but nothing could have ever prepared me for what happened next.
Out of the blue, I hear screaming and caroling downstairs and there they were, in the flesh. I was genuinely surprised that they came for Christmas but I was extremely joyous that they did, because at last, we get to feel their presence even for just a short period of time.
#2: Christmas 2010 - Ayala Triangle
In 2010, the family decided to spend Christmas strolling around Ayala Triangle to see the spectacular lights show. It became an instant tradition that we would go to Ayala Triangle at least once every year, even if it's not Christmas.
We were just so amazed by their display and my cousins had fun just running around and looking at the different lights with their unique shapes and designs.
Plus, I really loved going to Ayala during Christmas because the ambiance feels blissful since it isn't as congested as other places.
#3: Christmas 2012 - Luneta Park
Just last year, my mother made a very bold decision for us to go to Luneta Park for Christmas so that we can watch the colorful fountains and light effects.
Of course, at that time, there were already thousands of people in Luneta so we had to really bump elbows to get a good spot to see the lights. But when you come here with your family, it's definitely going to be worth it and it's free.
#4: Christmas 2011 - Tagaytay
There was also a point when I spent Christmas just with my parents. These moments are definitely rare but very significant as well because we often spend Christmas with our extended family so this is good for a change and a chance to bond with each other.
Not a lot really happened when we stayed at Tagaytay for Christmas but it was special, I can tell you that. Always cherish these kinds of moments because you might find yourself running out of them when the time comes.
#5: Christmas 2008 - SM Mall of Asia
Last but not the least on this list was the Christmas of 2008 where we went to SM Mall of Asia to watch some fireworks and to just stroll by the bay.
