The Significance Of Prayer In Our Daily Lives

The solution to our daily problems in life is prayer. When we have no idea which way to go or when the problem seems too impossible for us to overcome, that is exactly the right moment to pray and ask God for help and direction.

Matthew 19:26 says that all things are possible with God.

If we can think about that for a moment and grasp it in our mind and heart, then we would find relief that no matter what problem whether it be at home, in the office, or at school, God will always be our ever-present help in time of need (Psalm 46:1).

God always hears our prayers and He knows the needs of our hearts before we even ask Him but we need to ask Him through prayer because that is how we communicate with God and it expresses our faith and humility toward God.

However, you may ask why is it that whenever I ask God something, I seldom get the answers that I am looking for. Well, God is not a genie who grants our every wish. We have no right to command God to do whatever we want Him to. In prayer, we always have to humble ourselves before God, thanking Him for the life He has given us and for being our great provider.

We always submit to God's will because He knows what is best for us and He sees our hearts. He knows our motives and desires for asking Him certain things. He knows what is beneficial for us and whether we are ready to receive overflowing blessings or not.

Sometimes, God needs to work in our hearts first before He can pour out abundance in our lives. But in all things, we always have to put God first above all and seek to do His will and stay faithful then God will bless us.

But as we pray to God, we have to keep in mind that we will not always get the answers that we want but God will answer according to His will and what He knows is best.

Sometimes God leads us to a certain verse in the Bible to answer our prayers, sometimes He brings someone in our lives to be the answer to our prayers or to give answers to our prayers, and sometimes the Holy Spirit speaks to our heart and reveals certain things. But God always has the perfect timing and the right answer for every situation.

The Bible gives us a promise that we have in God when we pray. 1 John 5:14-15 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him."

In all things, we need to ask God that His will be done and not ours. This is also what Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane. That is why we need to be sensitive to God's will and desires for us. We need to be in tune with Him so that we know what to pray for.

There are times, however, when we do not know what exactly to pray for and in those times, we can ask the Holy Spirit to intercede in prayer for us. Romans 8:26-27 tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes in prayer for us with groans that words cannot express and the Spirit intercedes in accordance with God's will.

So, it still points to the fact that when we pray, we need to ask God what His will is for us and we need to be sensitive to what He is calling us to do or where He leads us to go.

Jeremiah 33:3 also gives us a promise from God, "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things that you do not know."

When we sincerely call out to God and pray to Him with our heart, mind, and spirit as the Spirit leads us to, God will show us wonders that we have never seen before.

God will reveal things to us that we have no idea about until He showed them to us. But we do not always receive the answers to our prayers immediately, so we need to wait on God and as 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, "Pray without ceasing."

Prayer is a significant part of our lives. It is our way of communicating with God and in doing so, we can grow and have a deeper relationship with Him. Furthermore, if we also practice the discipline of fasting and praying at the same time, we can really be able to focus on God and be more sensitive to Him.

God is not so concerned with the words we use when we pray but rather He looks at the attitude of our heart. So when we pray, we have to pray from our hearts as we are.
