A Day in My Life: God's Mercy Abounds
How I thought this day would turn out like any other never fully expecting what lies ahead and how I have been amazed at how seemingly normal days turn out to go in a different direction.
I have had some nerve-wracking experiences that made me hold on to God even tighter than ever before, one of these encounters was when I was alone walking on a familiar street in the middle of the day but it was raining and the street was empty then all of a sudden somebody stops me in my tracks and asks money from me as he put his arm around my shoulder as if that was a comforting gesture.
That day, God showed me that He is my Protector and no matter what kind of people I face, He will always be there to be my Rock and my Savior.
Today, as I said, seemed normal but quickly shifted since on my way to campus, I immediately stumbled upon a roadblock due to a sudden halt in operation of the train (MRT) so I decided to take another route and chose to take the other trains (LRT-1 and LRT-2) to get to my destination.
Later on, I found out that the reason for the abrupt shutdown of operations was due to some technical problem earlier in the morning and the shocking news that somebody jumped on the train's tracks in one of the stations.
I am not sure of the reason but things should not end as violently as that nor do we have the right to take a life, much more our own.
After arriving at campus, I decided to finish the ordeal that I went there for even though I literally have no other classes for this week since it is Finals Week but I had to go to check whether I am exempted from the final exam in my biology class or I need to take that exam.
To my dismay, the results have not yet been posted and I am left to find out on the day of the exam itself so I am hoping that whatever God's will is for me that He will give me the strength, patience, and understanding to endure the hardships I will face and to trust in Him always regarding all things.
With that behind me, I decided to go home instead and finish the final essays that I need to do for my other subjects.
En route to my destination, Trinoma, while I sat inside the jeepney and as we neared it, two teenagers approached the jeepney and one of them went inside, perhaps to ask for money just as many children do BUT to my great surprise, he stuck a knife out to the girl right across me and demanded for her cellphone and did the same for those near her.
I clutched my bag at that moment, preparing to defend myself and use my bag as a shield and I was simply stunned and did not know what would happen next.
I thank God because somebody had the courage to actually kick the guy out and harass us no longer.
I thank God as well that nobody got hurt except for the man who voluntarily gave his coin purse but who can put a price to one's own life, right?
Better that you give all your possessions and wealth than to lose your life holding onto these temporary things. Truly nothing can snatch us out of the Father's hand and as He has promised and planned, nothing will be able to harm us.
In the end of it all, I thank God for His mercy and protection of my life in all circumstances because without Him, I do not know what could have happened to me in those moments I had to face such adversities and people with malicious intentions against us.
I have proven yet again that God is true to His words and is always faithful and works together for the good of those who love Him.
