Leading a Blameless Life
The next two vows that David made in Psalm 101 both concerned living in the path of righteousness and leading his family as well to serve the Lord wholeheartedly and seek Him in all things.
Of course, David did not keep these vows all the time and though he was a great military leader and a fearless warrior in the battlefield but he had a difficult keeping his home in tact.
But we should not treat David's mistakes as a license for us to do them but as lessons from which we can learn so that we would not stumble and fall.
Remember that our model in life is Jesus Christ and it is He whom we should follow. Nonetheless, these are some points in which we can ask God to help us change in our lives.
Psalm 101:2 says:
"I will be careful to lead a blameless life - when will you come to me? I will walk in my house with a blameless heart."
In other versions of the Bible, the verse tells us that David stated that he will behave wisely in a perfect way and that he will conduct the affairs of his house with a perfect heart.
Basically, he says the same thing but take notice of the words 'blameless' and 'perfect' because they make such an immense impression on us since in our day and age.
Being perfect or blameless in our ways is very difficult for us to do especially due to the many distractions and temptations that this world rams at us and try to shatter us.
But I believe that just as in those times and even today, though we are imperfect and blemished, we have Jesus Christ who is perfect and spotless in every way to help us in the endeavor to live a righteous life and we can depend on Him to enable us and give us the power to do as God wants us to do and to be.
To be able to lead a blameless life, remember that Jesus Christ died for us on the cross and shed His blood to cleanse us from our sins and iniquities.
When we accept Him, we receive forgiveness for our sins and we are freed from the chains of sin and the Holy Spirit will come upon us who will be the One to transform us and convict us when we are straying from the path of righteousness.
He will be the One to help us to become Christlike in our ways and that would happen if we obey His commands and listen to His voice and pray to God fervently.
Keep in mind that Christians are not perfect but forgiven and it is by God's grace and through our faith in Jesus Christ that we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Also, we are made right with God the Father not by our own righteousness or goodness but because Jesus clothes us in His righteousness which is perfect and pure, without any defect or flaws.
So whenever God looks at us, He sees Jesus in us and that is why we can stand in His presence.
I do admit that leading a blameless life is a very difficult thing to do and to keep in mind but know that God is always willing to help us as it is said in Psalm 46:1 that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in time of need.
We must then always put on the armor of God so that we are prepared to confront our spiritual battles and to win by the power of the Holy Spirit and by God's awesome might.
It is His hand that delivers us from all temptations and so whenever you notice that you are being tempted to sin, pray to God and declare in the name of Jesus that sin has no more power or authority over you and ask God to give you way out in every fight of your life.
Leading blameless life requires immense faith and devotion to God but the rewards of staying true to God's Word and standing firm in your convictions against wicked ways or vile temptations are true blessings that would give you joy and peace.
You will notice that as you grow to accept God's ways and make them your ways that you enjoy God's favor, faithfulness, and His presence in every aspect of your life.
He will definitely direct your ways and give you the best in everything and you will not desire anything more than God's best.
It is also important to impart this character to your family and show them how to live according to God's will and ways. We must manage our family just as God keeps His family close and intact.
Children need to be taught to obey their parents, to obey God, and to trust in Him. Parents need to accept their responsibility to guide their children in the right path and to train them up in God's ways and precepts so that when they become mature in mind and heart, they will keep these and apply them in their lives and their own family.
As I have said before, we need to be involved in the lives of our family members because we are accountable to God for them. We need to correct them in gentleness and out of love for them so that they would grow and mature in their spiritual walk with God.
So with all these in mind, are you will to make a vow to God to live a righteous and holy life for His glory? Then, I pray that God will shed His light upon your life and hold your hand as you develop a dynamic and fruitful relationship with Him and as you live for Him. God Bless!
